Visual acuity and eye health assessment

Our skilled and thoughtful professionals perform general exams to evaluate your visual acuity and issue a prescription. They shall ensure you an optimal visual comfort with your new prescription and the adaptation to it is as smooth as possible.

Our optometrists also conduct complete eye exams that are intended to be more exhaustive and will outline your eye health, in addition of the prescription issued for the acquisition of glasses or contact lenses. Some anomalies or eye conditions are not visible with the naked eye and an individual may not experience any symptoms. This is why our optometrists recommend the complete eye exam to the patients that have never done one. It is an assessment of the eye fundus with pupillary dilatation along with a retinal picture and an optical coherence tomography. This will allow taking a critical look on the peripheral and the surface of the retina, the different parts of the internal eye, such as macula, fovea, optic nerve and its head, as well as blood vessels.

Eye exams for children and teenagers (17 years and under)

Once per calendar year, a regular eye exam fees for children and teenagers are covered by the Régime d’Assurance-Maladie du Québec (RAMQ).

For kids and teens of 17 years and under, it is recommended by the optometrists to have their eyes checked every school year. The kids that start kindergarten or first grade should have their first comprehensive eye exam before the start of the school year.

Ocular emergencies and urgent repairs

One of our primary goals at Antoine Laoun Opticien is offering our help, to the maximum possible extent, to people needing an immediate assistance in relation to their eyes or their glasses.

In the case of an ocular emergency, our optometrists diagnose and treat a multitude of problems linked to the eyes: allergic reactions, conjunctivitis, various infections, redness and pain, chalazion as well as sudden vision fluctuations or losses. In the case of a more serious pathology or abnormality, the optometrist in office will write a referral letter attesting that you have to be rapidly seen by an ophthalmologist.

Student Discounts

The CEGEP and university students are eligible for a special student discount with purchase of anti-glare lenses. Upon presentation of a valid student ID card from the academic institution, a discount of 30% off the frame will be granted.
